Meet Kym Allison
Ecocentric Expressionism: Contemporary original art based on the natural environments of the west and southwest. Imagery consists of abstracted landscapes, rivers and vistas, colorful berry bushes and trees, and florals from gardens and natural settings.  All work originates from my lived environment and emotional responses mixed with my imagination.

All paintings are original; oil paint & mixed media on sewn canvas.
This mature body of work developed from my background in abstract expressionism and experimentation with texture. The organic forms began appearing in the abstract work around 2000 after I had spent many hours hiking and camping alone in the Sangre de Christo Mountains of southern Colorado.

I have been a professional working artist for over 25 years. I have lived in Colorado all of these years with the exception of 3 years spent in Taos and Santa Fe New Mexico.

Over the course of my artistic career I have been affiliated with galleries and various venues in Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. I have received numerous awards and honors in group and solo shows internationally. I have been the recipient of personal and project grants awarded nationally, including the Robert Rauschenberg Change grant. My work is in public collections of Kaiser Permanente, and other medical facilities and corporate collections throughout Colorado. Work is held in private ownership nationally.

I have a BS in architectural engineering, University of Colorado and a MA in counseling and art therapy, Southwestern College, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
