Cops Are Human, Too by Kurt Mulson

Kurt’s family is originally from up-state New York and his Father was a pilot for Pan American Airlines. Shortly after Kurt was born on Long Island, New York, his Father was transferred to London, England. He spent the next six years growing up in a British neighborhood just outside of London. When the family was transferred back to the United States, they settled in a very rural area south of Miami, Florida. The culture shock and adjustment was tremendous going from a very proper British city environment to a very southern American rural environment.

The adjusting continued when he left for college attending the University of Denver graduating in 1970 with a BA in Mass Communications. Experiencing London, the Deep South, traveling to many foreign countries with his Father, and living in the west gave him some in-sites and skills that later became useful as a police officer. He served for 30 years on the Vail Police Department during some of the Town’s greatest growth and expansion. Managing a wide variety of cultural differences in an equally wide variety of situations to what is hopefully a positive outcome can be challenging and can also provide some humorous experiences.

Kurt currently resides in Edwards, Colorado with his family. He works for the Vail Police Department now as a Code Enforcement Officer and enjoys Scuba Diving whenever possible. He started the book back in 1982, but due to family and career demands he did not finish the book until he retired in 2007.
