Published in January 2007, there are 64 pages full of color photographs and local accounts of this historical hub of Eagle County development and modernization.
The Eagle on Battle Mountain by William Burnett is a highly detailed and very readable personal account about New Jersey Zinc Company's Eagle Mine at Gilman, Colorado in the 1940s and 1950s. Burnet concentrates this account on the mining complex, including the company town of Gilman. The descriptions Burnett provides are exactly the subjects---the support plant and personnel---that never make it into technical journals. This book is recommended for those interested in Colorado history or mining history.
