Introduction
Google and its new eBook service hosts your library safely in the digital cloud, so you can read anywhere you go, using just about any device with an Internet connection. Google eBooks are compatible with most web browsers, Android phones, iPhone, iPad, and many eReaders. Google eBooks are not compatible with Kindle at this time. As you read, your page positions are saved across all the devices so you can pick up reading where you last left off. That means you can start reading on your PC, continue on your laptop, and carry on reading on your smart phone or iPad.
Step-by-Step instructions for mobile devices (iPad, iPhone, Android, etc)
- You will need two logins and passwords to get started.
a. A Bookworm of Edwards login and password. You may have one if you have shopped online with us in the past. If not go to www.bookwormofedwards.com and click on “My Account”. Then click on the tab that says “Create New Account” and fill in the username, email address and password you’d like to use.
b. A Google login and password. You may already have one if you use Gmail, Google calendars or a number of other Google web applications. If you have a Google account, skip ahead to Step 3.
- To set up a Google login, go to www.google.com
a. Click on “Sign In” located in the top right hand corner of the web page.
b. Click on the login page, click on “Create an Account Now” at the right side of the page.
c. Enter your preferred email address and create a password. The email you choose here will become your Google login.
d. Complete the necessary security and service terms sections of the form.
e. Click the button “I accept. Create my account.”
f. Check your email and click on the verification link sent from Google to verify your account. This step is very important as Google will not recognize the new account until it is verified.
- Get the free Google Books App.
a. Visit the app store on your device(s)
b. Search for Google Books
c. Install the free app
d. Open the app on your device and enter your Google login and password (one time only).
- Visit www.bookwormofedwards.com on your device’s browser and shop for eBooks.
a. Browse recommended eBooks by going to the “eBooks” tab located on the main “Books” drop down menu.
b. Search for specific titles available as Google eBooks by clicking on the link at the left side of the page.
c. Search both physical and electronic books by using the search field on the right side of each page. The results for your search will be sorted on tabs based on the format – physical books, Google eBooks and other eBooks.
- Put your selections into the shopping cart and follow the check out process to complete your purchase.
a. On the product page for the item you wish to purchase, click “Add to Cart”
b. Continue shopping. When all items you wish to purchase are located in your cart, click on “Check Out.”
c. You will then be asked to connect your Google account with your shopping cart. You only have to do this once! Allowing this will create a link between your eBooks and the Google Books app on your device(s). This way, you can read your Google eBooks across devices at any time.
d. Click on “Bookworm of Edwards users, click here to log in now”
e. Enter your Bookworm login and password.
f. Enter your Google login and password.
g. Accept the Google terms of service.
h. Enter your billing information (or auto select it if you’re a returning customer)
i. Enter your payment information.
j. Click “Review order”.
k. Click “Submit order.”
- You’ll then be directed to a page that says your order was completed successfully!
- On your mobile device(s), open the Google Books app. Within a few seconds, you will find the book residing on your bookshelf. Tap the cover once, and now the entire book will download onto the device, making it possible to read even while you’re not connected to the internet.
