Vail was developed by a group of adventurers, men and women. Until 1970, it was a small, geographically isolated village, an idea becoming a reality, and soon to define itself in the ski world. We all lived in the same place differently, so each of us has a different story.
Several books have been written about Vail’s history, but the women’s story had not yet been told. To realize a long-held dream, Carolyn Pope and I have gathered memories and photographs in order to keep the women’s stories alive in print. We have published “Women of Vail – Those Who Walked This Bridge, 1962-1970,” the years before LionsHead and Vail’s becoming a two-village town. Each story bring to the table a reality that was Vail, and how each of these women met the challenges of this unique community.
Thank you Warren Miller for your forward and support.
