  • Partnership Event
Mon, 04/05/2010 - 6:00pm
Mon, 04/05/2010 - 8:00pm

About the Program:

Learning abilities—and differences—result from a complex interaction of genetics, brain development, and a child’s experiences at home and school.  We will explore this “nature-nurture” interaction in some of the variations—such as dyslexia, ADHD, and autistic spectrum disorders--which cause problems with academic, emotional, and social learning.  Parents and teachers will learn specific strategies for creating successful learning environments to benefit all children. Child Care Provided

The Literacy Project recruits, trains and supports volunteers to tutor both youth and adults on reading and speaking English. Currently tutors can work with an intermediate/advanced ESL student who needs help studying for his electrical and plumbing tests in English or help beginner ESL students or provide conversation practice for a Chinese woman. Volunteers can arrange tutoring sessions around their own schedules for no more than 2-3 hours a week. Contact 949-5026 or literacyeagle@hotmail.com for more information.
